The BDE Tour covers the legendary dive sites of Brother Islands, Daedalus Reef, and Elphinstone Reef, offering an unforgettable safari experience
Brother IslandsThe Brother Islands are considered one of the world’s top diving destinations. Big Brother and Little Brother are two small offshore islands located approximately 60 km from the Egyptian coastline in the middle of the Red Sea. With strong currents, deep blue waters, and rich marine biodiversity, this route is especially popular among experienced divers. Little Brother is famous for its incredible underwater life. The reef is covered with colorful soft and hard corals, sponges, and anemones, creating a spectacular habitat for marine species. Divers frequently encounter large schools of barracudas, tunas, jacks, and Napoleon wrasse. The area is also well known for shark encounters, including Longimanus (Oceanic Whitetip Shark), Hammerhead Shark, Silky Shark, Gray Reef Shark, and White Tip Reef Shark. Approximately 1 km to the north lies Big Brother Island, famous for its legendary wrecks. In the center of the island stands a historic lighthouse. When sea conditions allow, divers can explore the famous Numidia Wreck, one of the most iconic wreck dives in the Red Sea. The 150-meter cargo ship sank in 1901 and today rests along the reef, fully covered with coral growth and marine life. On the northwest side of the island lies the Aida Wreck, which sank in 1957 and remains one of the most photogenic wreck sites in the region. Due to strong currents and changing sea conditions, diving at the Brother Islands can be challenging. This route is recommended for advanced and experienced divers only. Daedalus ReefDaedalus Reef is one of the most remote and spectacular dive sites in the Red Sea. Located approximately 180 km south of the Brother Islands, this massive offshore reef can only be reached by liveaboard boats and is part of a protected marine park. A historic lighthouse built in 1863 stands on the reef. Daedalus is world famous for its pelagic marine life and shark encounters. Early morning dives often provide unforgettable sightings of schooling Hammerhead Sharks. Divers may also encounter Longimanus (Oceanic Whitetip Shark), Silky Shark, Gray Reef Shark, and White Tip Reef Shark throughout the dives. The reef walls are covered with vibrant soft and hard corals, while the nutrient-rich currents attract an incredible variety of marine life. Manta rays, giant trevallies, barracudas, and tuna are frequently seen in the area. With its strong currents and open ocean conditions, Daedalus Reef is best suited for experienced divers seeking thrilling blue-water dives. Elphinstone ReefElphinstone Reef is one of the most famous and beautiful reefs in the Red Sea. Known for its dramatic walls, plateau formations, and thriving coral ecosystem, the reef offers breathtaking underwater scenery and unforgettable encounters with pelagic species. The entire reef is covered with colorful soft and hard corals, making it a paradise for underwater photographers. Elphinstone is especially renowned for shark encounters, including Longimanus (Oceanic Whitetip Shark), Hammerhead Shark, Gray Reef Shark, Silky Shark, and White Tip Reef Shark. The strong offshore currents attract large schools of fish and create excellent conditions for pelagic sightings. Dives at Elphinstone are often drift dives due to the powerful currents, making the site ideal for adventurous and experienced divers looking for an exciting Red Sea diving experience.
